Baptism
The first three sacraments are Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist. These are known as the Sacraments of Initiation.
Through Baptism, we are reborn into new life in Christ. In Confirmation, we are strengthened by the Holy Spirit. In the Eucharist, we receive the spiritual nourishment that sustains us on our journey of faith.
Holy Baptism is the foundation of all Christian life. It is the gateway to life in the Spirit and the door through which we gain access to all the other sacraments. Without Baptism, one cannot receive any of the other sacraments.
Through Baptism:
- We are freed from the bondage of sin
- We are reborn as children of God
- We are incorporated into Christ
- We become members of the Church and sharers in her mission
- We share in the priesthood of Christ
Baptism is received only once. It imprints on the soul an indelible spiritual mark, known as a “character,” which signifies that we belong to Jesus Christ.
Baptisms are held on the first Saturday of every month. Baptismal Preparation meeting is required. Please contact the Parish Priest to make arrangements.
